From: "See Weed" Subject: lets finally unify and do whats right for the planet Date: Wed, 30 Apr 2003 13:46:18 Hello, I am writing you today to try and get support to see that this world becomes a better place. I first would like to say that I am a 23 year old male college student (4.0 GPA), prior service Army (3 years active duty), and a musician currently working on my first CD. As of April 21st, 2003 The DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) announced that industrial Hemp will no longer be classified as a controlled substance and that it can finally be used to the full extent of its beneficial capabilities. Industrial hemp has already been proven to provide a safer and cheaper alternative for fuel, plastics, wood pulp paper, and cotton. I am now passing around a petition I wrote to bring awareness of the beneficial qualities of this amazing plant. I know that if we utilize this plant to the fullest we can save the forests, the oceans, and help repair the ozone. As well as provide cheaper fuel, cars, houses, clothes, and basically anything that is currently made with cotton, wood pulp and petroleum. Hemp products are bio degradable while petroleum based products aren't. Please read my petition @ Just The Facts 420 , open mindedly and actually visualize how this would help repair this planet. Currently half of the U.S. supply of pesticides are used on the cotton crop, which pollutes the soil, as well as the waters with that enormous amount of runoff. While the hemp plant has an internal pesticide and can grow basically in the same soil for over 20 years with minimal chemicals. Also hemp fuel doesn't contribute to global warming, while petroleum based fuels produce acid rain due to sulfur pollutions. There are more than 25,000 practical uses for the hemp plant so we need to unify and make sure that we request this safer, cheaper, and rapidly renewable plant become the norm for this world. Please remember that Hemp is NOT the same as Marijuana and can not be used to get high from. And as of April 21st 2003 it became legal for industrial purposes, so no longer is that a reason that holds us backFor information on the recent change to the DEA's policy you can check it out at The DEA's website If for some reason you are appalled that I brought this to your attention, and feel that the making this planet more ecological then please write me hereP.S. If you were wondering I got your email address off an European site and am in NO WAY interested in giving out (or selling for that matter) your email address to anyone. Actually by the time you have received this I have already thrown away your address and you wont here from me again unless you choose to communicate. I am just looking on spreading the word of the recent decriminalization of this miracle plant.
